Chimney Sweep

Cost of a Chimney Cleaning

Cost of a Chimney Cleaning like any other service is made up of several factors with the largest costs being travel and labor.

Because of the heavy workload and demand for our sweepers Chimney Jim requires a deposit to cover the travel an initial inspection of your chimney.  This deposit is made when an appointment is made and is only refundable up until 24 hours in advance of the scheduled service call.  If you think about this it makes sense. We schedule our sweepers and they are in very high demand.  If you don’t show up for an appointment or the door is not opened to allow us to do our job, then we have wasted our valuable time and costs associated with the call and also deprived another customer or our service.

The cost of a chimney cleaning is dependent of how long it takes to prepare the area the height of the chimney, and the labor involved.

We budget as a general rule that travel time, preparation and cleaning to take about one hour.  If the travel time and cleaning runs longer than this, then the quote given would not be accurate and there would be an additional time charge. If your chimney has a high buildup of creosote because of infrequent chimney cleaning, then there will usually need a new service call to deal with the creosote. We do not expect to remove creosote on a standard chimney cleaning our intention on a standard chimney cleaning is to clean ash and soot from the chimney.

Preparation includes:

  • The covering of the area around the firebox with coverings to reduce the risk of soot or ash getting on the surroundings.
  • Transporting The equipment into the area of the chimney
  • Equipment includes:
    • Vacuum and hoses
    • Chimney Snake
    • Chimney Cleaning Brushes
    • Tarps and covers

Travel

We schedule our chimney sweepers to work in as concentrated an area as possible thereby eliminating needless driving. If you live outside the cities we normally service then there may be an additional miles based travel charge.

Average charge for Chimney Sweep

A typical and most common cleaning will consist of an inspection and a chimney sweep and cost a total of $299.98 (assuming you have cleaned the firebox prior to our arrival).  If you only wish an inspection, you may, but, if you decide to schedule a cleaning on a day after the inspection, then there will be an additional inspection charge because the chimney will need to be respected and you would end up paying at least the minimum of $299.98 anyway.

We recommend that you contact us only if you are ready for a chimney sweep not just a chimney inspection.

If you want us to contact you.
